AJF will visit Munich, Germany, from March 14 to March 16, 2019, for the annual Schmuck exhibition known as Munich Jewellery Week. This is the time when international jewelry artists, collectors, galleries, and everyone interested in art jewelry gathers in one place. We hope you'll join us! Space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

ITINERARY

Thursday, March 14, 2019

  • Panel discussion: AJF in Conversation 9–10:30 a.m., Galerie Handwerk, Max-Joseph-Straße 4, Munich. Title: Curators & Collectors: How They Choose. Moderator: Sienna Patti of Sienna Patti Sienna Patti Contemporary. Panelists: Deedie Rose + Toni Greenbaum + Anni Nørskov Mørch + others
  • Bus tour to galleries/artist studios, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Following the panel discussion, we'll board a bus and travel to visit several galleries/pop-ups/artist studios during the afternoon. The schedule of visits is still being finalized and will be distributed once complete. Lunch is included. Afterward, the bus will drop guests at the Charles Hotel, Sophienstraße 28, Munich. If you're attending the dinner at the Messe, you'll be taken there.
  • Dinner at the Messe, 7–9:30 p.m., Hall B1 at FRAME, Munich Fairground. This exclusive dinner event is at the location of the Schmuck Fair—the Munich Jewellery Dinner, presented by FRAME. You'll enjoy a seated three-course dinner, drinks, and music with artists, curators, gallerists, collectors, and other movers and shakers in the field. Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the Fair. If you're participating in the bus tour, you'll be dropped off at the Fair but will be responsible for your own transportation back to your hotel.

  • Panel discussion: AJF in Conversation 9–10:30 a.m., Galerie Handwerk, Max-Joseph-Straße 4, Munich. Title: The Next Generation of Gallerists. Moderator: Bella Neyman, curator and founder of NYC Jewelry Week. Panelists: Atty Tantivit, Atta Gallery; Karen Roy Andersson, Four; Irene Belfi, Irene Belfi; Elena and Chiaralice Rizzi, Oh My Blue.

  • The 2019 Susan Beech Mid-Career Grant winner will be announced at 5:15 p.m. at the IHM (Internationale Handwerksmesse) Main Stage. This is an important event that recognizes the vision and leadership of Susan Beech in creating this once-in-a-lifetime grant opportunity, as well as celebrating the lucky and talented winner of the grant. We hope you'll plan to be there to celebrate with AJF.
  • Celebration Dinner for the 2019 Susan Beech Mid-Career Grant winner, 6:30 p.m. (for members only). Join AJF's executive director, board members, and others in AJF's community to congratulate and get to know the Susan Beech Mid-Career Grant winner at the Kuffler California Kitchen. Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the restaurant.

  • There are no AJF events planned for this day, but there's always a lecture at the Design Museum at 11 a.m., so plan to attend it; it's within walking distance of the Charles Hotel.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS AND AIRFARE: Hotel costs are not included in the registration fees. A well-known and recommended hotel is the Charles Hotel. Airfare costs are not included in the registration fees.
