Special Friday Bus Trip
2026 Munich Jewellery Week Day Trip
Join us for an afternoon-long jaunt to see the exhibition David Bielander: Chiaroscuro at Galerie Zink
Come on an outing to Seubersdorf, Germany, to take in a comprehensive overview of 30 years of David Bielander’s artistic practice, revealing how the fusion of art, craftsmanship, and concept can create a body of work that defies categorization, yet resonates deeply.
At first glance, Bielander's objects resemble ordinary items: a cardboard crown, a garden hose, an animal form. But these illusions deceive. What seems banal reveals itself, upon closer inspection, as a meticulously crafted artwork made from precious materials like silver, gold, or titanium. The artist plays with perception, challenges expectations, and questions what we think we see. His pieces are much more than jewelry. They're wearable sculptures—social sculptures that come fully to life only through interaction with the body and the viewer. Just as light in chiaroscuro needs shadow to define form, Bielander’s works require wearing to be complete.
- Departure from Galerie Handwerk at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, after the book presentations held there that morning wrap up
- We'll take a chartered coach to Galerie Zink—the artist will be present with us on the bus—and the gallery will treat us all to refreshments
- The coach will bring us back to Galerie Handwerk in the early evening. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we plan to be back in time for the early evening lectures in central Munich, but we cannot guarantee it
- Limited seating. Free and open to all, but registration is required
